The West Chadsmoor Family Centre offers a fun, friendly and safe environment where pre-school children and their parents can enjoy and experience different activities, including arts and crafts, cooking and singing. As well as these family sessions, the centre also runs adult leisure courses, and its ‘Pit Stop’ provides parents with an opportunity to take a break and recharge their batteries.
On the 17th October this fantastic organisation was presented with a Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service and I was honoured to be invited to the presentation ceremony. It was particularly poignant for me as my family is from this area of the county – in fact, while I was at the ceremony I met a man who used to work for my grandfather down the mine and another gentleman who was school friends with my father.
The West Chadsmoor Family Centre provides an extremely stimulating and interesting environment where children can learn and grow together, and parents can socialise and talk to others about their experiences and concerns. I would like to thank Jeanette McInnes and Muriel David, Board Chair and Vice Chair, for their very kind invite and congratulate everyone involved with the West Chadsmoor Family Centre on their award and for creating such a fantastic facility and resource for our community.
