The High Sheriff and his Consort, Mrs Jan Gill, were honoured to attend the British Empire Medal Investiture Ceremony at the County Buildings on Tuesday 29th November.
They joined the Vice Chairman of Staffordshire County Council, Mr Phil Hewitt who hosted the ceremony at the personal honours’ presentation where three Staffordshire residents were awarded prestigious personal Honours by His Majesty the King for their invaluable contributions to their local communities.
The winners were announced in the 2022 Birthday Honours list and received their medals from the Lord-Lieutenant, Mr Ian Dudson CBE KStJ on behalf of His Majesty the King.
The recipients were as follows:
- Mrs Shelia Anne Cooper BEM, for Voluntary services in Staffordshire
- Mr Daniel Mark Kinsey BEM, for services to the community of Wombourne, particularly during Covid19
- Maurine Elizabeth Recine BEM, for Voluntary services to young people through Girl guiding UK and charity work in Staffordshire.
Mr Hewitt said ‘it was a great privilege for me to host these presentations and honour these fantastic people from Staffordshire, who have done so much for our communities. They have all made invaluable contributions in their services and it was a great pleasure to see them receive such prestigious recognition from His Majesty for their hard work given over many years’.
The High Sheriff said it was an absolute pleasure to attend this special ceremony and to celebrate the achievements of the worthy recipients. He thanks Mr Hewitt for inviting him and his Consort to be part of such a memorable occasion.
