SCVYS (Staffordshire Council of Voluntary Youth Services) Annual General meeting took place on Thursday 14th November at Rising Brook Community Church in Stafford.
Around 100 members and supporters, along with myself and the Chairman of Staffordshire County Council, Kath Perry, attended the meeting, which also included presentations of the Les Simmons Youth Impact Awards, held in memory of a SCVYS team member who sadly passed away in 2015.
Les was passionate about ensuring young people achieved their full potential, and the awards were created to recognise groups and individuals who have had a positive impact on the lives of young people in Staffordshire.
I had the honour of presenting a certificate of achievement to all the nominees and an award to the overall winners from each category who were:
- Adult – John Anderson
- Young Person – Callum Hutchinson
- Group – Musical Youth Theatre Stafford
Congratulations to all the nominees who are doing such a phenomenal job in supporting and encouraging the young people of Staffordshire.
