We held a legal service in St. Mary’s, Stafford on Friday morning prior to the opening of the Hilary Term of the Crown Court. This was followed by lunch in the County Buildings and that completes my three Court Openings for the year.
I am grateful to the Staffordshire Police Specials who acted as Halberdiers and to 22 Signal Regiment and RAF Tactical Supply Wing from MOD Stafford who were on duty as Route Lining Party and Escort to the High Sheriff. Also the four trumpeters. They all added to the ceremonial of the occasion and gave unsuspecting members of the public in Stafford something to photograph!
Thanks also to my Chaplain, my Cadet, the staff of the Under Sheriff’s Office and to everyone else who contributed to the success of the day.
