HRH Prince Charles, the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson & the Home Secretary, Priti Patel were in attendance at the Dedication of the new UK Police Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum.
Despite blustery conditions, which played havoc with the Prime Minister’s umbrella, it was a huge privilege to be part of the limited attendance at the UKPM site itself.
The impressive memorial sits in an appropriately commanding location and depicts an open door, a threshold representing the dangerous places our brave police officers go. It is decorated with falling leaves that represent service, sacrifice and lives lost and I found it to be a very powerful tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of our Police Services.
I was particularly proud to see my Police Cadets, Thomas Astbury & Holly Baker, actively involved in the ceremony, presenting wreaths.
