Earlier this month I was honoured to be invited to the Trailblazers event at the House of Lords to learn more about the amazing work done by the organisation and meet some of the young people it has helped.
Trailblazers Mentoring’s vision is to end youth re-offending for good. They aim to do this by mentoring and encouraging young offenders to make a positive change and providing them with the tools, support and opportunities they need to continue on their new path once they are released.
The evening included a speech from Lord Ramsbotham, our host and a champion of the Trailblazers organisation. This was followed by a short speech by Peter Aitken, who following his time in prison is now mentoring other young offenders and helping them find better ways to live. John Shepard, CEO of Trailblazers, also provided an inspirational speech about the organisation and its plans for the future.
Hearing first-hand the significant changes Trailblazers has made was humbling and I wish John and his team much success – they really are helping to inspire new futures.
