I was delighted to have the opportunity, before the end of my year in office, to go back to Staffordshire Police HQ in Stafford, and be shown around the Contact and Response Centre where they receive over half a million 999 and 101 calls every year. That is about 1,500 calls a day on average, covering everything from major incidences to the very trivial.
Chief Supt Elliot (Will) Sherrard-Williams explained the approach they adopt to sort the urgent from the non-urgent, by an initial Triage, and then assess them on on the THRIVE system to decide how best to respond. THRIVE stands for Threat, Harm, Risk, Investigation, Vulnerability and Engagement.
I am grateful for the opportunity to have seen the Operations Room at the Contact and Response Centre in action, and interested to talk to, and thank, some long serving members of the team for the fantastic job they do.
