A message from Ben Robinson MBE DL, High Sheriff of Staffordshire:

“On behalf of the people of Staffordshire I would like to pass on our condolences to the Royal Family at this sad time and not only to those closest to her but to everyone in the nation and the Commonwealth.

“We will remember her for her remarkable service, her faith, loyalty and her dedication throughout her long reign.

“The Queen always put duty first and led by example, showing compassion and dignity.

“For 70 years she was at the centre of British life and will go down as one of this country’s greatest monarchs. When she became Queen, Winston Churchill was Prime Minister and she oversaw a total of 15 Prime Ministers including welcoming Liz Truss earlier this week. She also met 13 US Presidents as well as many world leaders.

“Her Majesty was our guiding light through a period of incredible change and has always been a reassuring beacon of continuity and has touched every aspect of British life.

“She has won the respect of nations across the world and was universally loved and admired.

“The people of Staffordshire will be deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved Queen.”
