I attended a lovely reception last night to mark the retirement of Ian Smith, HM Coroner for Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire. He has served the population in the north of the county for 16 years and I have been privileged to sit with him on several occasions. Thanks to the Lord Mayor’s Office for hosting in the wonderful QEII Room.
