On the 4th July, ten new names were added to the Armed Forces Memorial, which stands in the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffordshire. The names of the service people, two from the Royal Navy, six who served in the Army, and two from the Royal Air Force, were carved into the wall of the memorial during an extremely moving Service of Dedication.
Attended by several dignitaries, including Ian Dudson, Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire, with whom I laid a wreath in remembrance, the service was extremely moving. There was also a fly pass by a Hurricane, which tipped its wing in honour of those who had lost their lives.
It was a privilege to be part of such a poignant event and thank you to everyone at the National Memorial Arboretum for their continued work and dedication.
