I was delighted to be invited to attend the annual St John Priory Group of Staffordshire & Wolverhampton presentations at The Collegiate Church of St Mary in Stafford, hosted by the County President Rev’d John Davis MBE KstJ, in the presence of The Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire Ian Dudson CBE KstJ, and attended by The County Chairman, the District Manager and many of the County Trustees of The Order of St John.
Spread across two Sunday afternoons, and recognising two years of awards, these ceremonies honoured nearly 50 members of St John Ambulance with voluntary hours certificates and long service Bars and Medals.
It was humbling to meet so many people with a remarkable record of voluntary service in our county, often several generations in the same family. The Gold Service Medals in particular, awarded to individuals with 50 years voluntary service with St John, represent a lifetime of dedication.
