Supporting the Samaritans and “Brew Monday”

Throughout January and February, the Samaritans are encouraging people to have a “Brew Monday”, getting together with friends, family, work colleagues or strangers to have a cuppa and a chat to help raise money for the Samaritans.

On Monday 20th January, I joined the Stafford Samaritans – at the very kind invitation of Judith Manners – at Stafford station for their “Brew Monday”. It was wonderful to see so many people share a brew and a biscuit to help raise much needed funds for this fantastic organisation.

It costs just £5 for the Samaritans to be able to answer a call for help from someone struggling to cope with difficult feelings, who may feel alone. In the past year, volunteers in Stafford have answered 17,263 calls, spent 3,263 hours on the phone, replied to 2,120 emails and 4,128 text messages – with each call, email or text helping to change someone’s life.

If you would like to support the Samaritans by organising your own “Brew Monday”, you can find further information and a free fundraising kit on their website https://www.samaritans.org/support-us/campaign/brew-monday/.
