On Monday 7th November, The High Sheriff welcomed six new Magistrates at a Swearing-In Ceremony at Stafford Crown Court.
The Master of Ceremonies was Anita Price who opened the Ceremony and then the new Magistrates were welcomed by Her Honour Judge Kristina Montgomery QC.
The new Justices were called in alphabetical order to take their oaths or affirmations and a speech was delivered by HM Lord-Lieutenant Ian Dudson CBE KstJ.
The High Sheriff followed with his welcome speech and said that being a Magistrate is a very important and rewarding role dealing with criminal court matters, and it is one of the most fulfilling and significant volunteer roles in our community and of immense value to society. Magistrates continue to be chosen from people who show good character, commitment and reliability and those who can communicate effectively and are capable of making sound choices when sitting in judgement of their peers.
The speeches were concluded with an address from Mr Alan Jones JP, Bench Chair for Staffordshire.
