On Wednesday 23rd October I was very kindly invited to a personal, informal tour of Stone by Councillor Jim Davies and his wife Jean. Unfortunately Jim was not well that day, so Jean took up his mantle and showed me around. I was first introduced to Mark Green, the Mayor of Stone, and his wife, who provided an extremely interesting overview of the town and its history.
Jean then took me to many beautiful sights, including the Church of St. Michael and St. Wulfad’s on Church Street, as well as inspirational community initiatives, such as the Stone Community Hub. It was also fantastic to see the many new businesses that are thriving in Stone, including Lymestone Brewery which was established in 2018 and is going from strength to strength.
I would like to say a huge thank you to Jim and Jean for their very kind invite and for taking the time to show me around their fabulous town. I had a lovely day and I’m sure it will not be the last time I visit Stone!
