On Wednesday 6th April the High Sheriff was delighted to be invited to attend a curry and bingo fundraiser at one of Staffordshire’s popular restaurants in Cannock. Panshi Restaurant hosted the fun-filled evening on behalf of Paul Snape, the Chairman of Staffordshire County Council in aid of The Army Benevolent Fund and Staffordshire Wildlife Trust.

The Army Benevolent Fund commonly known as ‘The Soldiers’ Charity’ is a national charity that offers support to soldiers past and present and their families for life. The charity has supported over 65,000 members of British army families across forty-eight countries through their varied services, that range from supporting veterans with independent living, education and employability, elderly care, mental health, families and housing.

The Staffordshire Wildlife Trust is our county’s local wildlife charity that continues to pave the way for the local conservation of wildlife and wild places since its establishment in 1969.  The Trust protects over 1804 hectares of Staffordshire land through the management of thirty-two nature reserves and numerous conservation projects to ensure the wellbeing and the next generation of Staffordshire wildlife.

The evening was a great success as the attendees enjoyed a fantastic array of Bangladeshi Asian cuisine and several rounds of bingo and raised £1600 that will benefit the residents of Staffordshire who rely on the fantastic work that both charities undertake.
