On Wednesday 9th November, the High Sheriff was accompanied by his Consort, Mrs Jan Gill, to Stafford Crown Court, where he was delighted to present awards recognising acts of bravery, courage and selflessness to recipients who had been nominated by the Crown Court Judges.
This year’s Awards recognised eight outstanding citizens whose brave actions resulted in offenders being brought to justice.
The High Sheriff thanked all the recipients for the fantastic contribution they had made in supporting the police and judicial system. He said that the public plays a vital part in supporting the system by providing the police with evidence, by helping to apprehend criminals and by being vital witnesses in court. This often involves acts of great bravery and members of the public putting the greater good ahead of themselves. He thanked everyone at the Awards Ceremony for standing up and being counted when they had been needed. On behalf of the people of Staffordshire, The High Sheriff said a huge thank you to the award recipients and congratulated them all on their well-deserved awards.
