Up until 1891 Tamworth castle was in Warwickshire, so it was a pleasure to invite the High Sheriff of Warwickshire Min Willoughby de Broke to join me in unveiling the terracotta Gryphon, recently restored and now standing proudly in the courtyard of the Castle.
Made by Gibbs & Canning of Tamworth, who became internationally famous for their fine architectural terra cotta, hundreds of these Gryphons adorn the walls of The Natural History Museum in London.
