Visit to the magistrates court

I’ve had a very interesting morning observing a cross section of cases at the North Staffs Justice Centre in Newcastle-under-Lyme today.  Theft, drink driving, cannabis growing, stealing a car, failure to abide by the requirements of the sex offenders’ register – magistrates see it all.  Thanks to the magistrates who welcomed me, explained procedure to me and answered my questions.  Things have certainly moved on since my mother was a JP 1974-2000, especially in the use of technology.
