Walking for Rubie

Rubie Jane Fisher was just six weeks old when she died from bacterial meningitis.  Since then, her mum Mrs Fisher, has been working tirelessly to raise awareness of the disease and its seriousness, as well as raising money for Meningitis Now – a charity which is fighting for a future where no one in the UK loses their life to meningitis and everyone affected gets the support they need to rebuild their lives.

I met with Mrs Fisher just after she’d completed her 5th annual Rubie’s Walk along the Manifold Way, with friends, family and supporters.  Her dedication to the cause, despite the darkness from which it came, was inspirational and to date she has helped to raise over £25,000 for the Rubie Jane Fisher Forever Fund – Meningitis Now, which is a fantastic achievement.

Information about the Rubie Fisher Forever Fund and to donate, can be found at www.rubie-fisher.muchloved.com, whilst further details about meningitis and what is being done to combat the illness can be found on www.meningitisnow.org/.
