We Love Lichfield is a local fund that provides grants to a wide range of local projects and groups based in the Lichfield District. Its aim is to have created enough capital by 2023 to be able to award £50,000 per year to worthy causes. I was invited along to the fund’s most recent meeting by my old school friend, Julian Fisher, to find out more about what they do.
The meeting began with carols sang by a local school choir, which was extremely festive and set a lovely tone for the rest of the meeting. They were followed by a short speech by Simon Price, CEO of cutlery firm Arthur Price and patron of We Love Lichfield, who explained the history behind We Love Lichfield, its aims for the future, and how its grant system works. We also heard from groups who had applied for a grant from We Love Lichfield, learning more about their projects and how they would use the funds if awarded.
The inaugural Business Community Champion Award, bestowed on the business which has given so much to We Love Lichfield over the past few years, was awarded to Richard Winterton Auctioneers at the end of the meeting.
I would like to thank We Love Lichfield for their very kind invitation and congratulate them on the fantastic work they are doing within our communities.
