It has been a long tradition that in June of every year, following the May elections, the High Sheriff of Staffordshire welcomes all newly elected Mayors of the county. This year my wife and I were honoured to host the new mayors at a drink’s reception in the grounds of our home.
Although the weather was far from perfect, it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits! A beautiful marquee, from Simon Bond Events, made sure everyone was kept warm and dry and able to enjoy a drink or two – including sampling my very own High Sheriff Gin, which I brewed with a little help from Nelsons Gin School!
I would like to say thank you to the 250 people who attended our reception to welcome our new mayors, but a particular thank you must go to my cadets who helped to ensure the car park ran smoothly on the day. I also need to thank Uttoxeter Golf Club, which very kindly offered the use of its car park for the afternoon.
